Model DA400
|
The DA400 DRUM Sampler is an aerosol sampler that collects particles in three size groups designed to match the needs of Mie Theory (G. Mie, 1976). This sampler is used in visibility and aerosol transport research. The DA400 also collects particles in sizes that are deposited in either the tracheobronchial or alveolar regions of the human respiratory tract. |

- Stage 0: (2.5 um) Inlet size selection
- Stage A: (2.5 µm to 1.15 µm) The coarsest particles, while optically efficient, are too few in number to have much effect on visibility.
- Stage B: (1.15 µm to 0.34 µm) The middle group is the heart of light scattering, with very high optical efficiency/particle at the peak of the Accumulation Mode.
- Stage C: (0.34 µm to 0.15 µm) The finest stage normally possesses many particles, but the particles are highly inefficient in scattering light. Increasingly, these particles are thought to be most dangerous to humans.
